Prof. Opoku is a former Chair of Business Programs and Lead Faculty in Marketing and Entrepreneurship at Red Deer Polytechnic’s Donald School of Business, Science, and Computing in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. Before that, he was the Director of Institutional Research at the same institution. He developed and instructed the Entrepreneurship and Innovation course for the joint degree program between Mount Royal University and Red Deer Polytechnic and the Red Deer Polytechnic degree program. For the past seven years, Robert has developed the training modules and has been organizing successful Youth Entrepreneurship Training Programs and Bootcamps for First Nations in Alberta, Canada. He also has successfully designed and taught numerous Entrepreneurship 101 courses and masterclasses to start-up entrepreneurs and members of Chambers of Commerce in Canada.

Robert has a Diploma in Education from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana, and a Certificate in e-learning from the University of Calgary, Canada. He is also a Certified Management and Business Educator in the UK and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK. He had his PhD in marketing from Lulea University of Technology, Lulea, Sweden, and is one of the early researchers who articulated the nexus between marketing and entrepreneurship. As a result, he has researched and published on entrepreneurship in Ghana. He has also lived on four continents, including Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America, and has taught Marketing and Entrepreneurship and consulted in each. His numerous travels have given him the unique opportunity to learn first-hand the importance of entrepreneurship and youth development. He has also conducted numerous in-house training for business, public, and non-profit organizations.

He owns and operates the 10-year-old Fredma Business Services Inc., a business strategy consulting boutique in Red Deer, Canada. Besides, he is also one of the founders and directors at the Burman University Small Business Centre, Burman University, Canada. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Business at the Burman University School of Business (a faith-based University) in Canada.
